Private Pilot Jamie Cobb Congratulations

Private Pilot Jamie Cobb Congratulations

Jamie contacted us as a student pilot and owner of a new Robinson R44 helicopter. He had accumulated dual instruction hours, but just felt he needed help getting ready for the helicopter private pilot check ride.

Chief Pilot Gary Cleveland took a commercial flight to Dallas/Ft Worth and Jamie picked him up at the airport. The next day they headed to Plymouth Indiana in Jamie's beautiful Raven 2 helicopter. After a late start, three fuel stops, and about 8 hours of flying, they arrived C65 under a starlit sky.

Private Pilot Jamie Cobb Congratulations

Jamie used Helicopter Online Ground School to prepare for his helicopter rating and stressed to us "Kenny, you need to make people watch 100% of the video course before they even think about coming here." Jamie had logged many hours with various flight instructors and still had not had the advantage of a flight instructor taking the time to make sure he had all the required aeronautical experience for the rating. Kenny carefully went through his log book and flew the required dual instruction flights that he was lacking.

Jamie was a pleasure to work with and you could tell he had done a good job preparing with the Private Pilot video course. He just needed his confidence built up. He needed us to say, "you know this stuff."

Jamie stayed locally and trained every day. He was a a great person to be around and even shared some social time with Kenny Keller, founder of Helicopter Online Ground School and author of "Helicopter Check Ride". Kenny's book hit Amazon #1 best seller within 24hrs of publishing. Jamie has an autographed hard copy!

Private Pilot Jamie Cobb Congratulations

Jamie was so relieved to have the check ride out of the way and excited to tell the World about it! His orange R44 made a wonderful backdrop for a video interview.

Check out Jamie's interview:

"Kenny, Good evening I would like to thank you for helping me obtain my private rating! I have been trying to complete this for quite some time now. This has been challenging to complete due to CFI's, my schedule, their schedule, and I just couldn't seem to complete this which was extremely frustrating! (I was actually ready to sell my Helicopter believe it or not, when I finally made the call to you!) I purchased the course you offered online, "Private and Commercial Ground School", about a year and half ago, and what a difference that made in preparing me for my check ride! It amazed and motivated me that when I called to ask you if you could help me complete my license, you without hesitation, said, "Come up and we will get this done!" I have been told by several others this exact thing, but you didn't hesitate to help me complete a life-long dream! I plan on returning next year, after an additional 67 hours, to meet the requirement to obtain my commercial ratings! I cannot thank you enough for making this life-long dream of mine come true! I absolutely do recommend any of your current or future students to go obtain their training online with your ground school course to save any additional money, if possible, before coming up there! You, my friend, are definitely the "Finisher"! Thanks again it is much appreciate! Sincerely Jamie Cobb"

Helicopter Private Pilot Jamie Cobb Congratulations

Kenny:
Hey, it's Kenny with Helicopter Online Ground School here with Jamie Cobb, one of our ground school members. Jamie just got his helicopter private pilot rating. The check ride was yesterday.  We just want to talk a little bit about all the struggles when we go to get our rating, private, commercial, whatever the case is. I failed my first private pilot rating, so my private turned into a couple years. More money. Lots of frustration.

Jamie's had some issues along the way. I'll let him tell you more about it. Because a lot of times having an available instructor who has, an examiner available, you know, everybody's time, everybody's busy with their lives, so it's not always easy to get these ratings done. Real quick, Jamie, just give us the brief overview of the struggle that you had and why you decide just to come up here and just get it done.

Jamie Cobb:
Well, everybody's busy. We all have things to do and trying to get our schedules lined up ... It's pretty difficult, so I bought your Helicopter Online Ground School. Felt I needed to get more of a grip on things, and I did that. Just going through it. I thought well, maybe Kenny can help me out. I'm trying to get this thing done. I was getting tired of it and just tired of all the struggles.

Kenny:
He's been at ground school for about a year. I even went back and looked through the emails. We've been communicating for a year. There's 10 or 15 emails and several times he's called me through the way saying hey, I'm just kind of struggling with this or that. I give him some pointers. We talked a couple times about him coming up here. Jamie asked? Ken if I come up there, can I just come up and get done and he did. He got here on the second. Yesterday was the 10th. We got him done in about nine days.

He had good knowledge from going through ground school. The instructors he flew with did a good job with him in the aircraft, so when he showed up there wasn't really a big problem other than it just putting everything together. Going out flying a little bit. Doing a little bit of ground to polish everything up to make sure it was all good. Then going through the paperwork because we know ... Or if you don't know, there's a lot of documentation and log books and 8710 and getting everything right to go see the examiner. We did that in about nine days and flew over yesterday. Windier than the average check ride, but he felt good about it. Examiner felt good about it. Probably the windiest check ride I've done in 15 years and he still went out and flew to a standard and passed and got the rating done.

Jamie Cobb:
I'm not sure how I did that.

Kenny:
You did it.

Jamie Cobb:
It worked out.

Kenny:
You did it. I was even going, wow, it's kind of windy, but I thought well as long as examiner wants to go and you feel good about it. Then they went out and flew maneuvers and got it done. After the fact I said, "Hey, is there anything that the examiner asked you during the check ride that we hadn't covered or wasn't in Online Ground School?" Your answer was ...

Jamie Cobb:
Nope. You covered everything. I mean your videos really helped me out a lot. I mean there's just ... The books are overwhelming.

Kenny:
Right.

Jamie Cobb:
There's so many documents for that. Your videos clear it up.

Kenny:
That's why I build it, because I failed my first check ride. Most people know and that's one thing that Jamie connected with me when he first started watching my videos was hey, the guy admitted that he failed. I've created a business out of it because I know how hard it is when you got eight different books and you're trying to study here and you're trying to study here and it just gets overwhelming. I kind of just put my own little training manual together with my own notebook and been teaching out of it for years. Then turned it into Online Ground School and here we are.

Jamie Cobb:
And it works.

Kenny:
And it works.

Jamie Cobb:
It worked for me.

Kenny:
Yep.

Jamie Cobb:
I'm about ready to do the commercial now. I'm going to come back.

Kenny:
Yep, he's going to go back build his PIC time and when he's ready for the commercial he'll come back up. He knows now he can just come up. We'll get to it, get everything.

Jamie Cobb:
Get it done.

Kenny:
Get everything signed off. Make sure the requirements are all met. Polish the fly-in, polish the ground school and go out and get it done. You want to learn more about our helicopter ground school go to HelicopterGround.com in the description box below. Thanks Jamie for traveling all the way from Texas to come up here.

Jamie Cobb:
Thank you.

Kenny:
You can look for more to come.

Jamie Cobb:
He is the finisher.
