Now, let's talk about the two-stage pickup technique. Every time you lift your helicopter, remember to do it in two stages. Start by slowly raising the collective, keeping your focus outside the aircraft. As it begins to get light, pause and neutralize any movements. Then, gently lift it up to a hover. When it comes to the setdown, remember there's a little air cushion when the skids are about six to eight inches above the surface. Lower the collective and make subtle adjustments to the pedals for a smooth landing.

One common challenge is hitting that air cushion during the set-down. If you find yourself wobbling the controls, it's likely due to reaching that point and not quite getting to the ground. Remember, a slower descent will allow you to sense the air cushion and make a steady landing. Practicing pickups and setdowns is key to mastering these techniques, whether you're a beginner or an advanced pilot.
