WOULD YOU QUIT OR BE FIRED?

Hey career helicopter pilots! You always have to be ready to quit, and or get fired! I'm gonna tell you what I mean by that as soon as I get the hanger opened up.

Real quick though, I want to point out that the footage you saw at the very beginning in the first thirty seconds or so, that's from our next new video coming out, R-44 Flight FLorida to Indiana.

What does it mean when I say, "Be ready to quit or be fired"? Anytime you're working a job, one of the big things you're going to be worried about, is maintenance, and also general safety. The sad reality is, in this industry there are things that go on, that should never go on.

Maintenance gets cheated, employers will push you to take flights that you shouldn't, due to the weather or other circumstances. A lot of times, it's going to be the aircraft.

I'll give you an example, when I was new to this industry, there were alot of times I flew things that I knew were iffy, because I wanted to get my hours in, I was chasing that dream.

At a certain point you get more picky, and now I don't have to do stuff like that. You may find yourself in this position. Ultimately, I want you to be prepared for the decisions that you might have to make.

WOULD YOU QUIT OR BE FIRED?

An employer could say, hey you don't want to take that flight, then you're fired, we'll get somebody else, there's a long list of people that want your job. There might be a maintenance issue where you don't want to fly and they say, well somebody else will. So ultimately they could terminate you, or they could say if you want your job fly it.

You may have to go against what you feel inside. Or, you may have to quit or walk away, resign from that job.
